Product roadmap
What Scaffold supports today and the integration directions being explored next.
Scaffold is developed in public. This page separates what is available today from possible future work so that evaluation and installation decisions are based on the product that actually ships.
The roadmap is directional rather than a release commitment. Priorities can change in response to educator feedback, institutional requirements, platform changes, and contributor capacity.

Open edX
The Scaffold XBlock is published on PyPI and brings the shared authoring and learner experience into Open edX Studio.

Moodle
The native Moodle activity supports authoring, delivery, grading and the administrative capabilities expected of a Moodle plugin.

- Moodle 4.5, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2
- Gradebook, completion, backup, restore, privacy and xAPI records represented through Moodle events
The Moodle Plugins Directory listing is awaiting review. Until approval, install the versioned ZIP from the GitHub release.
- Product direction
Canvas, D2L Brightspace and Blackboard
The likely route to these platforms is standards-based delivery through LTI 1.3 rather than separate platform-specific versions of Scaffold.
- Deep linking for adding activities to a course
- Assignment and grade-service integration
- The same shared Scaffold authoring and learner runtime
This direction is being explored. These platforms are not supported integrations today and no release date has been committed.

Google Classroom
A possible future classroom pathway, subject to educator demand and validation of the authoring, submission and grading workflow.

Planned indicates an area of interest, not a delivery commitment.
- Being shaped
Scaffold Plus
An optional paid bundle of premium features for authors and organisations, designed to sit alongside the free, open-source Scaffold product.
- The proposition and feature boundary are still being defined
- Availability, packaging and pricing have not been announced
- Free Scaffold remains a complete product rather than a trial of Plus
Plus will be documented separately when its capabilities can be described precisely.
How priorities are set
Roadmap decisions start with teaching and learning needs. Platform reach matters, but a new integration also needs a credible route for authoring, delivery, learner state, accessibility, grading, and institutional operation.
Priority is influenced by:
- Evidence of a recurring educator or institutional need
- Whether the work improves the shared Scaffold experience rather than creating a separate product for one platform
- The maturity of the relevant platform standards and APIs
- The cost of maintaining, testing, documenting, and supporting the integration over time
- Contributor capacity and opportunities for institutional collaboration
When an item becomes supported
A roadmap item is not available merely because it appears on this page or in a development branch. Scaffold treats a capability as supported only when it is included in a published release, covered by the public compatibility information, and has an installation or usage path in these docs.

Influence the roadmap
The most useful roadmap input describes the teaching problem, the learning platform involved, who is affected, and the institutional constraint—not only a requested feature name.
